Life is certainly full of ups and downs, but it can often feel like moments of loss and grief are everlasting. The Bible is particularly helpful in such circumstances, helping people find a great deal of hope to persevere and carry on.
Psalm 46:10
“He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.'” Many people fear stillness, as the idle mind is often plagued by bad or negative thoughts. But in reality, one must trust in God’s faithfulness to help man. In any trying times you’ve faced, God gave you the strength to face your adversity and challenges, helping you push through the odds. Be still, for He is with you throughout your struggles.
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and he will make your paths straight.”. We realize often in hindsight, how things eventually worked out for us, and what we had imagined wasn’t right for us. We lack that knowledge of foresight, and it is God that is all-knowing and all-wise. Rather than rely on your own ideas and theories, submit to God. Ask him for guidance and direction, and He will push towards it with His grace.
Philippians 4:19
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” God is the provider, with one of His name being Jehovah Jireh, which translates to God will provide. Our finite minds aren’t aware of God’s infiniteness, His ability to grant us everything and the various mysterious ways He works in to help us.
Psalm 34:18
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” A beautiful verse that states that God is close to those who are downtrodden, hurt or going through a difficult phase. While man will turn away from others when they are suffering, God will not. In fact, He listens to each word let out by a broken heart. It’s a clear sign that one must not feel lonely during a time of trial, as God is nearby.
