We live in a world where fear reigns our lives. We’re in an ongoing pandemic, and the world is in turmoil. There’s so much uncertainty around, so it’s natural to feel overwhelmed and afraid.

What is fear?

Fear is an emotion all humans experience. It’s the reaction to a danger or a threat, or anything that can have a negative impact on our lives. We fear many things like losing a loved one, getting physically or emotionally hurt, losing our livelihood, etc. So does it mean that we experience fear because we don’t believe in God and have no faith in Him? No. Even devout Christians can experience fear. God never promised us a perfect life; instead, He promises to stick by us every step of the way.

Here are some Bible verses on fear to seek inspiration from:

Psalm 46: 1–3

“God is our refuge and strength; a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains are moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.”

This verse from the Psalm 46 is the perfect reminder that no matter what happens, we need to keep our faith in God. It’s the reassurance we need that God is our refuge and that He will give us the strength to move forward in life and take on the challenges thrown our way. The Psalm gives a vivid description of how even when everything around us is in ruins, if God is by our side, there’s nothing to fear.

Psalm 23: 4

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

Psalm 23 is one of the most popular Psalms. It’s easy to comprehend and contains all the words of wisdom we need to get through our day. Verse 4, in particular, is a reminder that even in the darkest of places, we need to keep our faith in God, and that God’s staff is there to protect and comfort us.

Philippians 4:6–7

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

This particular verse in the book of the Philippians reiterates that we must pray during such times to gain the strength God provides. It also reminds us to be thankful and grateful for everything we have that we tend to overlook.
